p90X Day 9
Plyometrics -
Nice! It went much better this time around. I think partly because I had an idea of the moves that were coming up! I stuck with them for about 90% of it, and a few of the moves I had to stop early. A good workout all in all! My favorites so far are Plyometrics and Kenpo X.
Tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X. I am a little disappointed with Ab Ripper X. I feel it during the exercise, but all though that day, and the next, I feel fine. No soreness. Maybe I need to work it a little harder. Please don't hear me wrong. It is not an easy workout by any means, I just am not feeling it after. I've added planks, side planks and crunches. Hopefully that will help some!
Talk to you soon,

p90X Day 8
p90X Day 1 - Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X
Still at it. I was a little tired, but I pushed through. I went bouldering this weekend, and my tri's and back were quite sore.
I was able to do more than what I did last week, and enjoy getting the blood flowing so early in the morning.
I was absolutely exhausted this weekend. I think I took 2 naps (power naps) om Saturday, but it was much needed. I don't know if it is the p90x, or the weather, because my wife is not doing p90x, and she was pretty tired as well! This was pre-bouldering as well, so I can not blame it on that.
Well, Plyometrics tomorrow, I remember this one was fun, but it kicked my butt. Looking forward to it!
BRING IT!!!

p90X Day 6
Today was Kenpo X, and it was a blast! Some of the warm-ups in the beginning I could not do, but I kept up pretty well with the rest of it! I'm actually starting to feel a little sore now, but a good sore! Tomorrow is stretching and I really don't know what to expect. I know I need to increase my flexibility, so This is one I don't want to miss.
I am looking forward to next week, to see if I will be able to keep up a little better! I am actually going to go for a run today. The first time since may 12th, so it has been a while! I plan on taking it slow, not sure what my P.T. will say, but i have been 98% pain free for the past day or 2, and have a half marathon coming up in a little more than a month, and I have not even started to train!
See you tomorrow! Thanks for following!

p90X Day 5
Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X -
It hurt to get out of bed this morning. Not so much physically, but I was just so exhausted! I didn't hear my alarm at first, and fell asleep around 9:30. My body seems to be taking the beatings much better! I have been trying to push myself a little more. Some of the workouts I can not do, but most of them, I can get a few reps!
Tomorrow is Kenpo X. I am looking forward to this. It should be good.
As far as running, I think I may try a short run tomorrow. My leg has been feeling much better, and I think I may be good.
So, just to re-cap! My body feels better, However, dealing with the exhaustion is almost too much. I have much to get done today, but I am going to go rest for 20 minutes before getting started!
Talk to you soon!

p90X Day 4
Yoga X -
OK, let's just say I am not looking forward to the Yoga next week. I couldn't do most of what they were doing, and it was an hour and a half! What I am finding though is that if you can't get it the first time, it usually comes a little more the second time. i.e. Ab Ripper X... The first time, I was lost, The second, I did more... It hurts to walk. My legs are the most sore. I didn't feel this after running a marathon. I think it is from the Plyometrics.
Tomorrow is Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X. We'll see how it goes. Coming up on a week down! If you are doing it, Keep on it, even if you find yourself just watching because you are unable. Just keep trying, and it will come!
Think of this as an investment. You have to give to get! We are talking about your health. I was noticing all the people in very bad health. I had my hair cut this morning, and the lady cutting my hair was winded from having to walk around the chair! Just think, if she were to give even 15 minutes a day to her health, and make some better eating choices... In no time, she would be able to do more, feel better, have more energy!!!
Enough of the preaching... You know who you are!

p90X Day 3
Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X -
I am finding out that the soreness is delayed by about 24 hours. so I expect my arms and shoulders to be very sore tomorrow.
I feel like I did pretty well. I actually broke out the resistance bands. I was going to try to stick with the weights, but all I have are 15's, and some of the exercises I need either more or less... I'm going to look into getting a set of 10's and 20's...
I have been trying to eat more protein. As a runner, I typically went heavy on the carbs.
I am really looking forward to the Yoga tomorrow. I have tried yoga DVD's in the past, and you get those instructors that are really breathy and fake sounding, and they do the poses that you can't even dream of doing. We'll see how it goes!
Until tomorrow!!!
~Jarod
p90X Day 2
Plyometrics - WOW! I did pretty well for the first 10 minutes or so, but after that I was hurting!
I surprised that I am not more sore! Everything feels heavy, and a little sore, but not like I thought. I hope I am not doing something wrong.
I, again, feel an energy boost. My body is tired, but my mind is awake! I remember that from running. I usually felt pretty good after a nice long run!
I go to P.T. again today, so I'll find out if I can start running again. I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow!
So... Tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X. I am actually looking forward to it.
I'll keep you posted!

p90X Day 1
p90X Day 1 - Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X
It was good... I feel like I have a little more energy than I typically have at this point in the day. Maybe that is because I got up early and got the blood flowing...
I feel like I did pretty well for the Chest & Back, but the Ab Ripper X, I just couldn't hang. I had nothing to give, so I did what I could. I felt pretty nauseous after the first set of Chest & Back, but I pushed through. I certainly couldn't eat after...
I am a little sore. I hit muscle failure. It brought back memories from boot camp! It was interesting trying to wash my hair, because my arms just didn't want to go up there. Even trying to drink my coffee, I can feel it in my back!
Tomorrow is Plyometrics. (Plyometrics (also known as "plyos") is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. - from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plyometrics)
Looking forward to it! I'll keep you posted
I SAW KARA GOUCHER!
I saw Kara Goucher at Chipotle yesterday. I was so surprised and shocked I didn't say anything to her. This picture in my post is one I found online... Had I not been so shocked, I could have at-least puled out my phone and snapped a picture! My wife was using the restroom, so she can't even confirm that Kara was there... If I would have know I was going to see one of my heros, I would had something to say, or at-least had my phone ready, but it just took me by surprise! Oh well, Maybe next time.
As far as the injury, I am feeling better. I have been using my foam roller and "the stick" quite a bit lately. I have been massaging to try to loosen all of that up in there. It kills me not to be out running. I asked my P.T. if I could run a half in a month, and she just laughed at me. Partly because it was a stupid question, and partly because as a runner herself, she understood where I was coming from in asking such a dumb question. So it looks like my next race will be the P.I. Half in July... That one was scheduled pre-injury.
I really have nothing else to post, so I'm going to end it here...
Till next time...

Posterior tibial tendonitis
I have received word from several of my readers that you are actually getting something out of my ramblings. I thank you for your comments. This is my journey, and if I can inspire, even one person, than what I have set out to do will be complete.
On the same note, if any of you have advice on dealing with the things I ramble about, please comment, so it won't take me so long to figure it out!
With that said, I have been going to P.T. For 4 or 5 weeks for Posterior tibial tendonitis. It is very frustrating for me because the pain does not always stay in the same place, and is not always present! I also don't see the progress I want to see. Of coarse the progress I want is to be healed in less than a week. Also, not to mention I did not do myself any favors by running the Eugene Marathon 2 weeks ago.
I get deep tissue massage 2x per week, as well as some strength training, and stretching. My running has dropped to almost nothing. I did however enjoy a very nice 4.5 miler this morning. When I see people out running I feel like they are laughing at me. Remember the scene in 'water-boy' when he has to imagine them making fun of him? "Water sucks! It really, really sucks!" That is what I see...
Has anyone had Posterior tibial tendonitis? What was your recovery like? What do I have to look forward to? Comments?..
~Jarod
